Registrations are now open for the second in the Wellington Photographic Society’s series of workshops in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Botanic Gardens.
The workshop, lead on Mary Hutchinson on Sunday 3 February, will focus on People and Events photography and will begin with a 45-minute tutorial by Mary in the Seminar Room at The Treehouse starting at 10:30am. We will then embark on a walk around the gardens where you’ll get a chance to experiment and have fun with the techniques discussed. Mary will also be available to answer questions and share ideas.
We have planned the workshop to co-incide with the Victorian Picnic that will be held in the Soundshell at the gardens between 11am and 3pm which will include Victorian inspired activities and entertainment.
Mary is known for her inspiring street photography and ability to capture candid shots of everyday people. She has staged several exhibitions and published four photobooks focusing on the people of Newtown, Cuba District, and along the Golden Mile.
To register, go to: wps.wps.org.nz and click on the meeting schedule tab, then scroll through the events calendar to 3 Feb. Participant numbers will be limited so early registration is advised.
Also, the summer season of the ‘Fresh Shoots’ Photo Competition is now underway with entries closing 22 March. Entry details can be found at www.excio.io/freshshoots
