Covid-19 – Alert Level 3 to Level 2
Greetings from my bubble to yours. Most of you will have received an email from Paul yesterday with the zoom details for tonight’s meeting.
I am attaching the information again here for you along with some more information and help regarding Zoom.
We will be using tonight as a test for further meetings, so please do attend if you can even for a bit to see how it goes for you.

We are using the free version of Zoom so the meeting is going to be limited to 40 minutes, hence we will starting as soon after 7:30pm as possible.
Participating in a HCC Zoom Meeting
We are planning to run our club meetings using Zoom for the next few months until it is safe to meet in the clubrooms again. Many of our members have been using Zoom but for those who haven’t, try tuning in tonight to see how it goes.
The following guidelines will help you set up.
Choose one of your devices (eg phone, desktop, or laptop) that has a web-cam and a microphone and download the free version of Zoom onto it. You can either download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play or visit the Zoom website: https://zoom.us/pricing
Around the time the meeting is scheduled to start, click on the link the host has sent you. FOR TONIGHTS MEETING 5TH MAY, the link is: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/77526376327?pwd=Z1N1YWZGZldKdk5NelZBd0M3WDVwQT09
When you enter a Zoom meeting, you’ll be asked what kind of audio to use – just select ‘Use Computer Audio’. Then you should be able to hear everyone!
The next step is checking everyone can see and hear you. In the bottom left are the ‘Mute’ and ‘Start Video’ buttons – click these to turn your audio and video respectively off and on. UNTIL IT IS YOUR TURN TO SPEAK, PLEASE MUTE YOUR AUDIO SO WE DON’T HEAR EXTRANEOUS SOUNDS FROM PARTICIPANTS. TURN THE START VIDEO ON.
In the middle are a few buttons:
- Manage participants is a button for the call host to mute or manage everyone on the call
- Share is for screen sharing – you will get to select a tab or screen that you want to share with everybody else.
- Chat brings up a text window on the right, where everyone can do a text chat – useful to keep people from talking over one another. You can chat with everyone, or a specific individual.
- Record is a host-specific button, to turn this on and off as required. – able to be given to others.
- Security is a button for hosts that lets them lock the meeting (preventing new people from entering), and adjust other security settings for participants.
